Ion Exchange

Ion Exchange technology replaces the conventional method of colour removal such as activated carbon treatment and offers reduced running cost. This technology has a synergistic effect with Phosphotation. It operates by passing the pre-treated sugar melt through a combination of specialty-suited Ion exchange resins column. These resins have the capacity to absorb the colour precursors. The exhausted resin bed can be effectively regenerated by using an alkaline sodium chloride salt solution.

The valves, pumps, and air blower are all automatically controlled according to the status of various inputs from level and pressure switches included in the IEX station
