Sunil Singhal is a pioneering chemical engineer whose innovations have reshaped the landscape of industrial sustainability in India. With over five decades of impact across the sugar, bioenergy, and environmental sectors, his work has driven technological transformation, ecological restoration, and inclusive growth.
A topper of the IIT-JEE and an alumnus of IIT Kanpur (B.Tech, Chemical Engineering, 1971), Mr. Singhal began his career with global chemical multinationals in Southeast Asia. In 1986, he founded CST to adapt advanced global technologies to Indian needs, making legacy industries more circular, efficient, and future-ready.
What sets him apart is not just the scale of his innovations, but their social impact empowering communities, influencing national policy, and creating models of sustainable industrialisation that are now emulated globally.
He holds over five patents across sustainable chemical processes, waste valorization, and clean water technologies, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to innovation with measurable impact.
